Andrew Rogers

(Australia)

 I Am

A site-specific artwork I Am by the leading land artist Andrew Rogers is currently one of the tallest contemporary bronze sculptures in the world with its peak at 10.5 meters (34.4 ft) above ground.

The sculpture symbolizes a splash of energies circulating our physical and metaphysical bodies at any moment in time. It is a frozen gesture which the artist translates to bronze, a material traditionally used in monuments and busts in an attempt to capture the perpetually fading reality. Rogers mimics the quintessential forces of nature – waves of water, energy, and light – in one solid artistic message.

One can argue that beside a clear connection to the urban environment, I Am acts as a triumph of Rhythms of Life series in which the artist engages with communities around the world to create massive artworks visible from an open space.
